. . . or, at least, getting back to old habits!

Hello everyone, it’s been a while, huh?

A lot has changed in these past years. I’ve taken time to refocus, dedicating more time to the offline world, as my personal life and the communities I belong to require more attention and care. Meanwhile, everyday, the world seems even more unpredictable and scarier, while at the same time, the internet quickly becomes an unusable privacy nightmare filled with automated corporate slop. What once was a vastly unique place for me to escape to, now it’s the place that I mostly feel the need to escape from.

These were some of the factors that contributed to a burnout and lingering art block that pushed me away from any creative projects. Can’t remember the last time I doodled any meaningful pixel art, or any art for that matter. Everything just gets shoved into a W.I.P. folder, forgotten for months on end.

However, now that we enter another new year, the weight of this hiatus starts to hurt on my back a little bit more. I’m not getting younger and the horizon reveals the ever closing reality of reaching forty this year. Ever so gently, as if uncovered by the late winter’s melting ice, the itch to do something about it is growing stronger, alongside the need to return to my creative shenanigans.

This idle period not only helped me recover from the burnout but, more importantly, understand what was missing for me and where to go next. There’s no plan to return to social media, in fact, the idea is to almost forget it ever existed. Going back to old habits means going further back, into the “old web” days and this website will be the anchor for all of it! No longer a practical space to showcase my portfolio as if I was a brand, but a more personal and cozy web space for me to enjoy.

So, without further ado, here are a few updates!

• LINKS page now include a gateway to the awesome 1 Bit Bad Bitches collective as well as a growing list of sites from artists and projects I love.

• SOON writing a blog post about 1 Bit Bad Bitches so you get to know the lovely cozy community that’s been a home for me for years now!

• PLANNING to not only resume posting pixel and non-pixel art, but also create a space for my photography and other creative projects.

• PLANNING to dedicate a part of this website to all things old web and the web revival movement…

And with that out of the way, this post is getting longer than initially planned, so I’ll zip it for now ^^
